Where and how was your mix recorded?
The mix is recorded with 2 CDJ-800’s in the Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! studio. I’m a vinyl collector as well but I’m not spinning them yet.
Tell us a little bit about your background in music and why you started DJ'ing?
I was brought up with a solid musical background. My parents played a lot of classical music (mainly Bach) and my mom was listening to soul and funk artist like Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Al Jarreau and others. This was pretty much the only thing I heard in my younger years. When I was around the age of 13, my sister received a music producing program called 'Ejay'. That was very basic to say the least, but it got my attention and thus I started with producing and dj'ing around that age. I started my own 'drive in show' and started experimenting with different styles. I discovered house music in 2006, and have been hooked ever since.
What inspires you to make and/or play the music that you do?
That´s an interesting question. It´s kind of hard to describe what it is exactly. All the clichés are just pouring into my head right now; “its a feeling or a spiritual thing”, but I still think those are very true for me. Music, and especially house music is something that can lift my spirit at any moment. It´s something that is so consistent in my life and has given me so much joyous moments, that I would go frikkin madhouse without it. Artist like Kerri Chandler, Grant Nelson and Joey Negro are big inspirations for me.
What are you currently up to and what's up next?
I am in the process of releasing a track on TINK! and just in general producing my ass off. I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to releasing tracks, but I think in time I will get there. Besides I’m organizing an event in Leiden called 'Leiden Ondergronds', together with some friends. We are giving the DJ’s a lot of freedom in playing whatever they want, with a minimum of 2 hours per set. The focus in on the music, and we think that will attract fun people and make it a successful party.
